Meet Generation Next's Steering Committee: A conversation with Sean Woodman

Sean Woodman (
LinkedIn), field sales manager - OEM accounts, Muncie Power Products (Muncie, Indiana), serves as vice chair of NTEA Generation Next.

Q: What could immediately deliver value to a member (or potential member) of Generation Next?

I would encourage new or potential members to check out the member portal. It's worth highlighting that this small section within ntea.com is rich with information! Here's what you'll find:

1. Generation Next Application: Start your journey with this application to join Generation Next - a community dedicated to personal growth and mutual learning among its members.

2. Stay Connected: Access our social media platforms directly for the latest updates and information.

3. Share Your Achievements: We want to celebrate your personal or company milestones! Use the link to share your news, and we'll highlight it on our social media channels and on ntea.com.

4. Monthly Articles: Delve into insightful articles curated by the Generation Next Steering Committee. Have a topic in mind? Let us know, and we'll explore it together!

Q: As a Generation Next member, how have you utilized the resources available through the member portal to enhance your own professional growth in the work truck industry?

The portal is an excellent resource for exploring informative articles authored by both past and current Steering Committee members. These resources offer fresh perspectives that influence my daily thinking and behavior. I enjoy reading an article occasionally and reflecting on how I might have applied its lessons to real work situations. It’s valuable to consider how those scenarios unfolded and to identify any lessons learned or alternative approaches that could have led to a better outcome.

Q: Can you share a specific example of how being a part of Generation Next has helped you in your current role?

Generation Next is an incredible group, and one of its core principles is that you only reap the benefits of what you invest. This concept has truly resonated with me in my sales role. I've come to realize that I can’t expect to achieve sales or personal growth without putting in the effort to support my customers.

Q: What advice would you give to others who are considering joining Generation Next?

1. Connect with us! Don’t hesitate to reach out to any current Steering Committee member or NTEA liaisons. We’re eager to meet you and answer any questions you may have.

2. Get involved. Engage with us on our social media platforms. We regularly post questions and comments, and we love hearing insights from other companies and departments within the industry.

3. Meet someone new. This can be the most challenging aspect, but if you attend NTEA events, take the opportunity to approach someone you don’t know. Many professionals are eager to connect and learn. Remember, even CEOs are here to gain knowledge — let’s do the same!

Q: As someone who has been involved in this dynamic industry for a while, what trends or changes do you see shaping the work truck industry, and how can Generation Next help prepare its members for those changes?

I believe retirement will be the biggest trend affecting our industry in the coming years. As many experienced leaders prepare to leave their roles, it’s crucial for us to get involved now. By engaging with Generation Next, we can learn collaboratively and grow into stronger leaders for the future.
