Driverge Vehicle Innovations (Akron, Ohio) is seeking a director of operations – manufacturing in the Cleveland/Akron, Ohio area.  

With a dynamic leadership team in place, this is an opportunity to join a leading PE-owned manufacturing business poised for growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations – North America, the Director of Operations – North America will have responsibility for multi-site Plant Operations. Daily interaction with Shared Services (HR, Finance, IT, Facility Management) will be expected and required. The Director of Operations will assume responsibility for optimizing manufacturing and business processes. 

Essential Job Functions & Duties

  • The Director of Operations will reside in the Akron, OH area
  • Support and execute the business strategy, with the main focus being on the operational aspects of that strategy.
  • Assume responsibility for multi-site production facilities. 
  • Manage all operations-related projects (e.g., shop floor optimization, automation, new platform introductions, capacity planning implementation) 
  • Ensure a safety-driven and safety-minded environment in all facilities.
  • Maintain quality, safety, and environmental standards. Ensure compliance with company, county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage and maintain operations based KPIs to drive and monitor plant performance.
  • Mentor and develop General Managers / Plant Managers.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, OSHA and other safety regulations, and all state mandated regulations.
  • Always maintain and sustain the company’s core values.
  • Be involved in developing annual budgets.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Position qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, with the last 5+ years leading a team for complex activities of a manufacturing company.
  • Proven track record in operations optimization.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S & Continuous improvement is a requirement of the role 
  • Leadership and team building, to inspire, manage and grow people.
  • Business acumen, to manage job costing, make/buy decisions, and cost management.
  • Technical capability to troubleshoot and optimize both at the product and process level.
  • Supply chain management expertise, to reduce materials costs, manage inventory, drive capacity planning.
  • The ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Action-oriented and proactive, continuously displaying a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to make effective, data-driven decisions.
  • Strong value system and the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, identify solutions and provide decision-making leadership to effectively influence others, champion and implement ideas.

  • Must be able to travel as needed.

  • Participate in required company safety programs, trainings and PPE guidelines. 
  • Candidates must successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Candidates must possess a current valid passport.
