Jason Ritchey
2024-2025 NTEA Board Chair
Getting involved with organizations and causes that interest me, and are important to my family, my vocation and myself, is something I’ve always prioritized in my life. While it’s my intent to provide a positive impact with my involvement, I often find that those experiences — and being a part of a community — are so personally rewarding. For example, my involvement with the NTEA Board has allowed me to work with a talented group of professionals in serving the commercial vehicle industry that’s been such a big part of my life.
Volunteering on an industry Board can be a rewarding impactful experience for individuals looking to make a difference in their field. Board members play a crucial role in shaping the direction and policies of organizations, as well as representing the interests of stakeholders and the community. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits of volunteering on an industry Board.
Decision-making
One of the key benefits of serving on a Board is the opportunity to contribute to the strategic decision-making process of an organization. Board members have the chance to provide valuable insights and expertise — through discussions and offering unique perspectives — that can help guide the organization, and ultimately contribute to positive results for the professional community.
Networking
Serving on a Board provides networking opportunities that can contribute to personal and professional growth. Board members have the chance to connect with other industry professionals, leaders and stakeholders, which can lead to new collaborations and opportunities. Building strong industry relationships opens doors to new possibilities and career advancement.
Giving back
Board service allows individuals to give back — and make an impact — to their industry. By serving in a leadership capacity, Board members address important issues, advocate for change and support initiatives that benefit the overall industry. Whether it’s advocating for sustainability, championing education, supporting important issues and more, Board members can maximize the opportunity to drive positive change and make a difference.
