USMCA sent to Congress for ratification
Published in the December 2019 issue of North American Government News
The U.S. Trade Representative has delivered the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) implementation package to Congress. Fact sheets on the “new NAFTA” agreement can be found here. It is hoped that the U.S. House will act swiftly on this ratification package so it can move forward to full implementation. All three countries must ratify the agreement for it to take effect. Mexico has already ratified the agreement, although they have expressed some concern with recent changes made to satisfy the U.S. House leadership. Canada has previously indicated that they expect to take action once the U.S has done so.
